To enable you to start using the Himalaya Exchange right away, we have made our on boarding process as streamlined as possible and use certain third party verification service providers to verify your identity in real time. This is done by using automated technologies that match biometric information taken from the photo you submit and your national ID.
In some jurisdictions, like Europe and the United Kingdom, biometric data is a defined as a special category of personal data and where it is used to identify an individual we may need to request your consent to process it for this purpose. If you do not want your biometric data to be processed in this way you may be able to request a manual review. For further information about if you can request a manual review or about how we process biometric information please contact us at dpo@himalaya.exchange.
Please note that the manual ID verification may take a little longer than the automated process, and in some cases may take up to [seventy-two] hours. We process these requests as a matter of priority and the manual review will not impact the eligibility of your application.
We may use third parties, such as, Jumio, to collect biometric data about you as part of our identification checks. In this respect, Jumio may collect an image of your face that you provide and a photo or scan of your face as it appears on an identification document. Jumio will use its facial recognition technology with this biometric data for the purpose of verifying your identity as the person who appears on the identification document. Biometric data can be classed as a special category of personal data and, as such, we will ensure that such personal data is afforded additional security measures in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
